The present actual retirement age for Central Government Employees is 60 years. Keeping in view of the present unemployment problem in our country, the proposal for enhancement of retirement age from 60 to 62 years, if approved, it may create more problem. On the other hand, it is not out of place to mention here that due to the advancement in the field of medical sciences, now a days 60 years is too young to retired from service for an experienced employee.
Retirement age of central government employees is still 60 years, as no further clarification/amendment/ notification regarding extension in retirement age of the Central government employees has been issued by the Central Government so for.
during 1998, the ruling govt, they have announced retirement age from 58 to 60. Just like every 10 yrs they are considering the CPC, like that after 10 yrs or so, the govt has to considering the age from 60 to 62. if 62 is given there is no loss for govt, because the presently the retirees are getting min benefit from Rs.8.00 lacs to Rs.25/30 lacs and huge amount of pension. after 2 yrs means, the govt will manage to staple the budget, etc. so, we req. the govt has to be considered for 2 more yrs to retired.
Re: what is the actual retirement age for Govt employees 60 or 62 ?
Perhaps, this is the one expect which has been suggested by Mr. Om Parkash, for the enhancement of retirement age of the Central Government Employees from 60 to 62 years. But,I think, there are some other effects too, which may go against the proposal and should not be ignored. The new generation with new ideas and zeal to work towards the further progress of the country could be the priority of the Government which may not be ignored. The services of the young and more talented persons in place of the pre-set and the exhausted employees stuck to the age old working pattern is a necessity of the day. To provide the Job opportunities to the younger generation is the responsibility of the Government and that could only be provided in place of the present incumbents. Keeping in view the National interest retirement age of the CGE may not be enhanced any more, it should remain the same i.e.60 years.
The retirement age of Central Govt. employees is only 60 years as on now except scientists and other eminent persons. When the retirement age in Govt. services in the major developed and developing countries is above 62 years the Govt. of India also should reconsider to enhance the retirement age to 62 considering the overall fiscal position of India. Presumably our Hon'ble Prime Minister and Finance Minister are not reasonably guided by the top level bureaucrats.
Actual retirement age for central govt employees should be continued as 60 years only. Rather it should be reduced to 58 years to bring efficiency in govt offices. Moreover maximum number of youngsters will get opportunity for govt job in view of the fact that intelligent persons are deprived of the govt job which is not justified.
